WELCOME TO THE MEADOWS IN THE SKY
GALLIO, ALTOPIANO DI ASIAGO, KING OF THE WOODS AND FORESTS
A little green island suspended between heaven and Earth, the barycentre of the Veneto, just over 1,000 metres above sea level, lying between the celestial Dolomites and the industrious plains. Gallio is one of the most aristocratic villages of the ancient Altopiano community, a mountain garrison and base camp, a memorial to the most ferocious of wars. Its landscapes are an intricate mosaic of woods, meadows and mountains, a kaleidoscope of colours, flora and fauna and continually evolving ecosystems that invite us to humbly step in and respect this heritage, which belongs not only to the local community, but to us all.
Gallio lies amidst people-friendly mountains. It is a place to live in rather than just visit, where there is a strong bond between nature and the inhabitants, who feel they are custodians of the land rather than its owners, beneath asky that seems to predominate. Fortified by its vivid, rich yet never trivial history, Gallio offers the visitor not only a place to come and rest but a sense of wonder, filling the lungs with perceptions that evoke past memories.
For those who love to have all the most important towns and centres close at hand, Gallio lies at the centre of suburbia, just 4 km from Asiago, 65 km from Trento, 68 km from Vicenza, 96 km from Padua, 128 km from Verona, 132 km from Venice and 160 km from Lake Garda. Gallio is easy to reach and most certainly an easier place to enjoy.
